MENTAL ILLNESS AND ABORTION
Several studies, including research published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in 2006, concluded that abortion in young women might be associated with risks of mental health problems.
The controversy intensified earlier this year when an inquest in Cornwall heard that a talented artist hanged herself because she was overcome with grief after aborting her twins. Emma Beck, 30, left a note saying: “Living is hell for me. I should never have had an abortion. I see now I would have been a good mum. I want to be with my babies; they need me, no one else does.”
The college’s revised stance was welcomed by Nadine Dorries, a Conservative MP campaigning for a statutory cooling-off period: “For doctors to process a woman’s request for an abortion without providing the support, information and help women need at this time of crisis I regard almost as a form of abuse,” she said.
Dawn Primarolo, the health minister, will this week appeal to MPs to ignore attempts to reduce the time limit on abortion when new laws on fertility treatment and embryo research come before parliament.
Dr Peter Saunders, general secretary of the Christian Medical Fellowship, said: “How can a doctor now justify an abortion [on mental health grounds] if psychiatrists are questioning whether there is any clear evidence that continuing with the pregnancy leads to mental health problems.”

The grace period may sound like an excellent idea, but will this result in a better decision being made? Most women do not make their decision overnight about having an abortion. It becomes a labor some process for them and their significant other, should they be present.
It is the responsibility of the patient to seek help, with depression and/or other illnesses. The physician is there to help the patient, not to tell the patient was is best. Therefore, if the situation doesn’t present itself, then the physician need not discuss it. The literature on abortions side effect (ie. Depression) is out there. It is the patients responsibility to seek advice, not the physicians to provide information that may not be sought or warranted.

Some people due to political and social beliefs, ignore the fact that most…MOST women who have had an abortion will experience mild to suicidal depression, anxiety, and require medication to hide not relieve not rid,,, thier guilt. Which is what it is. In todays PC environment no one is allowed to speak what the truth is. So women suffer. The same women that “pro-choice” groups are fighting to “protect” are being sent … impressionable girls like lambs to slaughter in order to keep and protect a political and social view. There are not nor were there ever back alley abortions that killed millions of women. It is all lies. Just like the lie that an abortion is a minor surgical procedure. You don’t suffer through years of torment guilt and dispair as the result of having a tooth pulled. That is a minor surgical procedure. If abortion is not murder… why do women feel the guilt and pain as if it is….and I mean women who never hear terms such as murder who live in PC communities.

First of all I think that information about pregnancy and avoiding falling pregnant should be enforced at an early age therefore there would be less abortions and unwanted children. Children are eager to grow up and therefore are carrying out acts they know little about.
This also goes for the women who have abortions. The ‘cooling off’ period spoken about seems ideal and would benefit many women. Perhaps if the artist Emma Beck had this she would still be alive.
The reduction of time given to have an abortion would only put more pressure on women therefore leaving it at 24 weeks will rouse less aggravation than changing it to 20 weeks.
It is inevitable a woman who is faced with this difficult decision will have an aftermath of emotion that leaves them distraught and scarred.
Anti-Overpopulation advocates are clear – ‘Population control a must!!’

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the world’s 6,666,666,666th person was born on May 10th. The occasion gave rise to the usual calls for more population control to stave off a demographic disaster.
According to Overpopulation.net, the only thing this number shows us is that we have “passed our sustainability,” and that the population crash the world is now experiencing is, in fact, the fault of recklessly breeding humans.
These humans are responsible for the downfall of the species because they “have yet to recognize the alarming facts that for the last 16 years we have passed the sustainable food limits that Earth can produce relative to population.”
The Sierra Club wants to redouble its promotion of population control.
“If we are to achieve a more sustainable future,” says its Global Population and Environment overview, “addressing the root causes of environmental degradation– including overconsumption of natural resources, poverty, and population growth – is paramount.”
PRI begs to differ.
In fact, the fear of annihilation at the hands of unstoppable population growth is an outdated scientific parlor tale, based in racism, eugencism, mathematical incompetence and demographic ignorance. Men like Thomas Malthus and Paul Ehrlich have long since been refuted.
“Few people have the independence of mind to grasp what this number truly represents: A great victory over early death won by advances in health, nutrition and longevity.”
This victory is ignored by those who bemoan the birth of babies. But why should it not be cause for celebration that human beings, as Mosher says, have stopped “dying like flies.” Contrary to the claims of the population control movement, the numbers show that “the world’s population will never double again. In fact . . . it is already close to its apogee.”
Although the United Nations would be the first to advocate radical population control measures, their own numbers show the world’s population growth skidding to a halt. Like an arrow shot into the air, the world’s population will soon peak, and then plummet downward at an ever-increasing rate. Many countries have already fallen below replacement-rate fertility, with more to follow.
In short, PRI holds that we should celebrate the birth of human babies while there are still human babies being born. PRI celebrates the birth of this milestone baby, and encourages people and governments to look at human beings as resources to be cherished, not liabilities to be destroyed.

Dear Citizen of Earth May 1, 2000
The human population of Earth reached 1 billion in 1804, 2 billion in 1927, 3 billion in 1959, 4 billion in 1974 and 5 billion in late 1986. Last year on October 12th 1999, the human population of Earth reached 6 billion. In my lifetime the population has doubled from 3 billion in 1959 to the 6,034,213,000 today. This doubling of population which occured over the last 40 years will never come close to happening again. …………..
The author reveals overpopulation as a European problem, the place where birth rates are low!!!! - there the hammer will fall ……….. Should we start killing each other? or maybe organise a few NAZI extermination camps ?
Go Go Go Dr Gomperts…..
POPULATION CONTROL – THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MEDICAL WORLD-WIDE PRACTISES such as CAESARIAN OPERATIONS WHICH FORCEFULLY LIMIT THE NUMBER OF SIBLINGS TO THREE (IN SOME CASES TWO) DUE TO DANGER OF FURTHER PREGNANCIES FALLOPIAN TUBE LIGATION IS DONE – A POPULATION CONTROL PRACTISE - THE POPULATION MUST BE DECREASED TO AVERT FURTHER CLIMATE CHANGE AND POLLUTION – WHAT GARBAGE!!! whats life without pollution ?
The Human Being has become a virus, a rat for extermination!
THE BLOOD OF THE UNBORN CRIES OUT FOR VENGEANCE……..

Population Control, Avoiding Responsibility
Catholic Student Union, Florida State University
By Hilary WhiteBIRMINGHAM, Alabama, August 24, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Dr. Alveda King, the niece of legendary human rights campaigner, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., told a meeting of Priests for Life, that the killing of a quarter of the black population of the US has not been from the lynch mobs of her childhood days, but from abortionists, “who plant their killing centers in minority neighborhoods and prey upon women who think they have no hope.“The great irony,” she said, “is that abortion has done what the Klan only dreamed of.”King was speaking Sunday at the unveiling of memorials at the Birmingham, Alabama church served by her late father, the Rev. A. D. Williams King. Her father served the church from 1961 to 1965, the height of the civil rights movement. King is a Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and lived with her family at the church’s parsonage when it was bombed in retaliation for her family’s involvement with the historic movement.Christian Newswire quotes Dr. King at the ceremony: “Daddy was unswerving in his dedication to God and to the cause of justice. While the ceremonies Sunday marked a historic period from our past, it reminded me of another kind of struggle for survival African Americans face today.”Dr. King pointed out that the killing of the unborn in the US, which has taken the lives of well over 42 million American children, is overwhelmingly concentrated in the African-American community. “In the last forty-plus years,” Dr. King said, “15 million black people have been denied their most basic civil right, the right to life. Roughly one quarter of the black population is now missing.”The abortion movement’s history is inseparable from that of the eugenics movement that held the genocide of the “dysgenic races” as a central goal and for which the poor were the “enemies of the people.” In the US, abortion facilities and offices of Planned Parenthood are concentrated in poor areas where the black population is especially targeted.
